Cess Long was one of Ansett Airlines' original pilots, flying for Ansett from the barnstorming era through to prop jets.  His wonderful stories of flying early airline aircraft would hold the jumpers spellbound for hours on end.   When the Golden Eagles were jumping at country agricultural shows, each night would be spent with jumpers, ground crew and pilot banqueting at a large table at their hotel dining room and instead of the usual noisy banter to be found amongst jumpers, the table was mostly quiet and listening to Cess Long answering a never ending stream of questions from the jumpers.   Cess was still flying jumpers and driving his red sports roadster at 76.   A wonderful guy and a complete gentleman.
