GCM carried only three jumpers and it may now seem that it would be inadequate to conduct a parachute centre but in those days Southern Cross Skydivers had been jumping from Piper Tri-Pacers and the occasional Cessna 182 and considered the brand new Cessna 185 it had access to as the best jumpship in the country.

GCM served its operators and Labertouche Sport Paracute Centre well, it flew out of a small (2200 ft) strip carrying close to maximum loads for a number of years without ever being out of service except for routine maintenance.
